Covid-19: Online seminars successfully complement our regular trainings

We care and prepare

Online trainings have proven a successful replacement of our regular onsite trainings on SeisComP which could not be held with the current restrictions due to the Covid-19 virus.

At gempa we are treating Covid-19 seriously and take careful pre-cautions to protect the health of our customers and colleagues in the offices. Working from remote and communicating via video more than we already did before has certainly changed our daily work life. As a dynamic software company we were, however, well-prepared and the transit went as smooth as possible.

Due to sanitary regulations the regular trainings in our company’s training room were paused and we decided to offer online trainings instead: the same training content was stretched over more days with shorter hours. And even more, for the first time we could successfully introduce our latest SeisComP development which lead to version 4 and our QuakeLink module for secure real-time parameter exchange between SeisComP systems. Training times were adjusted allowing SeisComP users to participate from different times zones world-wide. Although communication purely via video may be complicated, together we managed to be interactive and productive at all times.

Eventually your feedback was overwhelming giving us much motivation to become even better in the future. Thank you all!

What comes next?

We will continuously evaluate travel restrictions and offer the regular Basic and Advanced trainings also in 2021. Depending on the sanitary situation we will continue with online trainings, return back to on-site training or have mixture of both. You may find our updates online .
