We are again announcing our very popular Basic Training for SeisComP. This Beginner Course is perfect for new SeisComP users who wish to get quickly started with a productive SeisComP system. You get to learn about SeisComP from us - the main developers of this wide-spread OpenSource software package for real-time earthquake monitoring.

This is a promotional training where we extend the training by 7 extra hours and provide a license for the QuakeLink module and our mapprojections package free of any extra charge.

ONLINE Training - Adaptation to the Covid-19 situation:

As travelling may be restricted during the course period and your health is of highest priority to us, this training will be held as an online training with a virtual classroom. Following tutorials on a monitor for a ling time is very demanding. We therefore reduce the daily amount of hours to 4 including short breaks

The training covers the following topics:

  • Introduction to characteristics of SeisComP.
  • Installation of the latest SeisComP release and future updates.
  • Generation of station information including responses.
  • Setup of the data acquisition, storage and distribution using seedlink, arclink or FDSNWS.
  • Configuration of the automatic and interactive data processing modules through the new graphical user interface.
  • Data management utilities.
  • Tuning of SeisComP for local, regional and global earthquake monitoring including the phase pickers, locator, associator and magnitudes.
  • Practical training (focusing on real-time playbacks, off-line playbacks and hands-on tuning).
  • Participants may bring their own datasets and use it for tuning.

  • Secure real-time exchange of earthquake parameters between redundant or collaborating SeisComP systems using gempa's QuakeLink module. The license for QuakeLink will be provided free of any license fee.
  • Generation of station meta data including responses of sensors and data loggers from scratch using gempa's SMP

Included free of charge:

  • A life-time license for QuakeLink will be provided with updates for 2 years free of any extra license fee.
  • The mapprojections package for different mapprojection and high-resolution custom or OpenStreetMap maps.

Please contact us if you wish to add your own topic.

The training is highly hands-on oriented and very intensive. Trainees get to learn and to practice actively at all times. Therefore, the registration to the training is open to everyone but limited to a maximum number. It will be held at gempa offices in Potsdam, Germany. See the training page  for more information and the goals of the course.
